About Terry

Terry Carter was born in Baxley, Georgia, in 1962, the sixth of six children. Son of a single mother, he was raised by his grandmother from the age of seven in government subsidized housing in Reidsville. It was during this time that Terry developed his powerful work ethic, his faith, and the determination to overcome everything keeping him from the life he wanted.

In 1980, Terry enrolled in Brewton Parker College. He graduated from Shorter College in 1985 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. After graduating, Carter went to work for Xerox Corporation as a sales agent where he worked for 15 years, rising rapidly as one of the top salesmen in the company.

Terry is currently the owner of TGC Properties, a small business specializing in the building of multi-family home sites.

Terry has proved himself as a man who cares about his community. He is involved in dozens of organizations. Terry is the past president of the Exchange Club of Brunswick, son's baseball coach, Rotary International, the Marty Lyons Foundation, Cub Scouts, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Chairman of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic School Advisory Board, Member of the Board of Trustees of Brewton Parker College, Member of the Chamber of Commerce and is an active member of the First Baptist Church of Brunswick. Terry is a strong supporter of the revitalization of Jekyll Island and is a member of the Committee in Support of the Revitalization of Jekyll Island.

A native Georgian, Terry Carter is a graduate of Georgia's public schools and of Shorter College where he earned a degree in Business Administration. Carter, 45, and his wife, Theresa reside in Glynn County. They are the proud parents of three children, William (10), Savina (8), and Marin (5). The Carter's are active members of the First Baptist Church of Brunswick where Terry is a Deacon and Sunday school teacher.
